Have you ever given free access to sprinkles to kids? Odds are the results will look more like the cookie below than the cookie up top…
I saw this giant Egg cookie cutter at Target and knew my girls would love making giant cookies to gift…. or eat… whatever.
1 batch of these amazing sugar cookies makes 2 giant eggs.
We added sprinkles and funfetti chips but you could use whatever flavored chips you wanted, or none at all even.
Once baked we thought it would make a good dinosaur egg cookie as well.
We of course had to add glaze… and more sprinkles… 🙂
Giant Funfetti Sugar Cookie Eggs
Ingredients
For Cookies:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup funfetti flavored chips (or white chocolate chips)
- 1/4 cup sprinkles
For Easy Cookie Glaze
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 Tablespoons milk or cream (more as needed)
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a stand mixer until smooth and well combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
- Add salt, baking powder, and flour. Mix just until combined.
- If using chocolate chips add now and mix briefly.
- Take dough out of mixing bowl and divide in half.
- On a piece of parchment paper lined baking tray place one half of the dough.
- Press into an egg shape approximately 1/4″ thick.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Cool on baking sheet before decorating.
- Spread with glaze or decorate with frosting as desired. If using glaze add any sprinkles while glaze is wet.
To make glaze:
- Whisk all glaze ingredients together until smooth. Add additional milk or cream 1 tsp at a time to reach desired consistency. If too thin it will run off the cookie, too thick and it won’t spread.
To Gift:
- Trim parchment paper around cookie and place on a piece of cardboard or in a gift box lined with cardboard (you just don’t want it to bend a lot as it will break. Wrap with plastic wrap or cover box.
